Syria: Army Imposing Full Control over Housing Project 1070 in Aleppo City

18 October 2016 14:33

Syrian Government forces are engaged in tough battle with the Jeish al-Fatah terrorist coalition in a key region in Southwestern Aleppo city, and captured most parts of the residential complex in the strategically located Housing Project 1070, field sources said on Tuesday.

“Syrian military forces struck Jeish al-Fatah’s defense lines in project 1070, al-Hikmah school and Sowgh al-Jabas. The Jeish al-Fatah terrorists suffered tens of casualties in the attack and retreated from several building blocks in the residential complex,” the sources said.

“The Syrian government forces, backed up by the country’s fighter jets, targeted terrorists’ positions in Ma’arateh, Khalseh, al-Hamthareh, Tal Bazou, Khan Touman, near the air defense battalion, Syriatel hill and an industrial site in Southern and Southwestern Aleppo, inflicting major losses and heavy casualties on the militants.

Housing Project 1070 is located in the Southern part of Aleppo highway to the key provinces of Idlib and Lattakia. It is also on the Western side of the aviation and artillery collages near al-Ramouseh. Al-Hamdaniyeh district to the North of the Housing Project is seen as a main gate to the Southwestern neighborhoods of Aleppo city.

Seizure of Project 1070 can directly change the conditions of the battlefield in Southern and Southwestern Aleppo and will leave indirect impacts on the situation of the war in other districts of Aleppo city.

Relevant reports said on Monday that Syrian Army troops and their popular allies launched a fresh round of attacks on Jeish al-Fatah’s strongholds in Salahuddin districts, and pushed the militants back from a number of neighborhoods across the Southern districts of Aleppo.

Syrian government forces stormed Jeish al-Fatah’s defense lines in Salahuddin district and captured several residential neighborhoods on the Southern side of Khalid Bin Walid mosque.

That was the first time that the Syrian army entered the district which overlooks electrical cables warehouses and al-Ameriyeh neighborhood.

The Syrian government forces also targeted terrorists’ arms depots, positions, outposts and watch towers in several districts from the Southwest to the Southeast of the city, including Salahuddin, Housing Project 1070, al-Hikmeh school, Tal Bazou, Sheikh Saeed, Karam al-Taraf, Sheikh Lotfi near Aleppo international airport and Old Aleppo.

Army reports later said that the terrorists have sustained tens of casualties in the clashes and spread across the Southern neighborhoods.

In the meantime, a long tunnel of the terrorists was detonated in Syrian missile units’ attacks.

A number of militants were killed in the tunnel.
