Iraqi Armed Forces enter western Mosul for first time in two years
Minutes ago, a source from the Iraqi Armed Forces told Al-Sumaria TV that their units have entered western Mosul after a fierce battle with the so-called “Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham” (ISIS).
“Local militia are now in Mosul and have entered the Da’esh (ISIS) headquarters in the western part of Mosul. This is one of the largest headquarters of Da’esh in the city,” Al-Sumaria TV reported earlier today.
The military source told Al-Sumaria TV that the Iraqi Armed Forces have also raised the country’s flag over the Islamic State’s headquarters.
The Iraqi Armed Forces’ advance in western Mosul this afternoon marks the first time in two years that any pro-government unit has entered the city.
