Syrian Army Ready to Launch Final Phase of Khan Al-Sheih Liberation Operation

6 November 2016 8:26

Syrian army troops are readying to launch the final phase of a multi-staged operation to drive the terrorists out of the town of Khan al-Sheih in Southwestern Damascus province, military sources disclosed on Saturday.

“Talks between Damascus representatives and commanders of Fatah al-Sham Front (the al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group previously known as the al-Nusra Front) in Khan al-Sheih failed last week as terrorists declined the offer to leave the town,” the sources said.

“Following the terrorists’ decision, the Syrian army decided to start the final phase of its large-scale operation to capture the town,” they added.

In the meantime, the Syrian military forces managed to beat Fatah al-Sham back from the village of Albuyzeh and its surrounding farms completely.

Other units of the Syrian army for their part fended off several attacks of the terrorists who intended to remove the siege of Khan al-Sheih, inflicting major damage on the militants’ tanks and vehicles.

“As a result, the Syrian army troops that have recently captured vast regions near Khan al-Sheih and have repelled the terrorists’ attacks on their positions in the recent days, tightened their siege of the town and are now ready to start the last step of their operation against Fatah al-Sham’s positions to take back the town,” the military sources concluded.

In relevant developments in the province on Friday, Syrian Army soldiers resumed its large-scale offensive on the positions of Fatah al-Sham Front near the town of Khan al-Sheih.

The Syrian Armed Forces resumed their military operations in Western Ghouta, targeting farms located just North of Khan Al-Sheih.

The army soldiers captured most of Khan Al-Sheih’s Northern outskirts, leaving only a small distance between their frontline and the town.
