Iraq’s Hashd Al-Shaabi nears strategic airport
Hashd Al-Sha’abi (Popular Mobilization Units) have reached the outskirts of the Tal ‘Afar Military Airport after a violent battle with the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) in northwestern Iraq.
According to the official media wing of Hashd Al-Sha’abi, their forces have liberated a half dozen villages along the road to the Tal ‘Afar Airport, while killing several militants from the Islamic State in the process.
Backed by the Iraqi Air Force, Hashd Al-Sha’abi is steadily advancing towards Tal ‘Afar at the moment, leaving only a small distance between their front-lines and the airport’s gates.
If they liberate the Tal ‘Afar Airport, Hashd Al-Sha’abi will have effectively cutoff the Islamic State terrorists from their comrades in Mosul.
