VIDEO: Captive Syrian soldiers freed following evacuation deal
At least 32 people were released after years of captivity as jihadi militants left Khan al-Shih town in Western Ghouta in compliance to a deal held earlier with the Syrian government.
The captives included 30 military personnel – including an officer – who have been captured in earlier battles with the jihadi groups, and 2 civilians.
Sitting in the back of a military truck on their way back from the former rebel-held town, the released were filmed joyfully chanting for their President and homeland.
The second batch of jihadi fighters were evacuated yesterday to the northwestern province of Idlib after concluding an agreement with the Syrian government.
According to the agreement, the extremist militants handed over their heavy weapons and dismantled all IEDs planted earlier on the roads leading to the town.
