West, its allies using ceasefire to save Syria terrorists: Pundit

The United Nations says Russia has proposed setting up four humanitarian corridors to the eastern part of the Syrian city of Aleppo in a bid to let in aid and facilitate evacuations from the militant-held areas. The Syrian government has welcomed thousands of displaced people who fled from eastern Aleppo. UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura has called on the Jabhat Fateh al-Sham terrorist group, formerly known as al-Nusra Front, to leave the city to help save lives.

Jim W. Dean, managing editor and columnist with the Veterans Today from Atlanta, told Press TV that every ceasefire in Syria has been a tool in the hands of the West and its allies to find a way to save foreign-backed militants.

“Every ceasefire we’ve had in the past not only made the [terrorists] able to rest in their recoup but they were resupplied and then actually went on the offensive as soon as the ceasefire was over,” Dean said on Thursday night.

“The whole thing has just been a circus from the beginning,” he said.

Dean said a call by Western governments and their regional allies for ceasefire in Aleppo aimed to pave the way for terrorist groups trapped in the city to find a way to regroup.

He touched on the concern of the Western alliance about the failure of foreign-backed militants in Aleppo, saying the US and its allies do not want the Syrian army to recapture the city.

“So, they’ve been doing everything they can to tie the Syrian army down in Aleppo,” he said.

According to the analyst, the conflict in Syria is a “CIA-Israeli construct” with the Saudi and Qatari money to invade the Arab country. He said the West and their allies have sent extremists from scores of countries to implement their regime change policy.

Every ceasefire implemented by the Russians and the UN has “brought supplies up to the edge of the city and then the terrorists basically mortared and fired on them and wouldn’t let them in,” he said.

“The Western press did not mention a word of that. No Western government denounced the Syrian armed groups even the ‘good terrorists,’” he added.

The Western governments and their media, Dean said, have buried all the reports that show the Syrian forces have helped civilians to escape from militant-held areas in Aleppo. The Western media have been “acting as a propaganda arm for the terrorists in Syria.”

Dean also criticized the international community for being hesitant to hold accountable state sponsors of terrorism, saying “the fact that the UN has never called for sanctions on any of these folks who have obviously aiding and abetting terrorism is a statutory criminal offense worldwide.”

Peter Sinnott, an independent scholar from New York, said both the Syrian government and terrorists are committed to fighting to the end.

He said he hoped the UN would be able to do something that would allow humanitarian and medical aid to go into areas under the control of militants in eastern Aleppo.

Sinnott claimed that the West was ready to drop humanitarian aid for people trapped in Aleppo but Russia was not allowing it.

The Syrian government and Russia set up humanitarian corridors for safe passage of civilians earlier this month but the plan failed after militants prevented residents from leaving by shelling the exit routes.
