Syrian army troops intensified attacks on Fatah al-Sham Front (previously known as the al-Nusra Front) in Western Ghouta.

The Syrian army’s missile units opened heavy fire at Fatah al-Sham’s positions in Wadi a-Bardi region, while other units of the army engaged in fierce clashes with the militants in Wadi Basimeh and al-Hosseiniyeh.

In the meantime, the army choppers hit Fatah al-Sham’s defense lines in the villages and towns of Basimeh, al-Basatin, al-Ziniyeh and al-Hosseiniyeh.

A military source said that the army with the cooperation of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent has paved the way for the safe evacuation of civilians from bazaar in Wadi a-Bardi town to safer regions, adding the army tries to increase pressure on the terrorists to force them to surrender.

Sources privy to terrorist groups disclosed that differences are widening among members of Al-Nusra Front (that recently renamed to Fatah al-Sham), adding that a part of Nusra members want to join peace agreement with Damascus but another part stand against such moves.

The disagreement comes as the ceasefire does not include Al-Nusra and ISIL.

In relevant developments in Western Ghouta on Friday, the army troops, backed up by the country’s military helicopters, stormed terrorist groups’ positions in Wadi al-Bardi region in Western Ghouta, killing and wounding a number of militants.

The army soldiers, receiving intensive aerial support from army choppers, struck the defense lines of Fatah al-Sham Front (previously known as the al-Nusra Front) in al-Hosseiniyeh and Basimeh from Majma Kaftaro direction, inflicting a heavy death toll on the militants.

The choppers also targeted Al-Nusra bases in Jaroud Basimeh in Wadi al-Bardi.
