Expert: Damascus Never to Negotiate with Nusra Terrorists over Wadi Al-Bardi

14 January 2017 16:54

Damascus is resolved to dictate its conditions to Fatah al-Sham Front (previously known as the al-Nusra Front), a Syrian military expert underlined adding that there is no plan for compromise with Nusra terrorists over Wadi al-Bardi in Western Ghouta.

Major General Ali Maqsoud said that Arab states in the region have provoked Fatah al-Sham to cut off flow of drinking water to Damascus to gain the upper-hand, but Damascus will never compromise over Wadi al-Bardi and will force the terrorists to accept its terms and conditions through military operation.

“Terrorists in Wadi al-Bardi had relied on their reginal and international backers to save them. The terrorists cut off Damascus’ drinking water at the order of their backers to gain the upper-hand against the Syrian government on the threshold of the Astana peace talks,” the Syrian expert said.

Maqsoud underscored that international backers of terrorist groups have always tried hard to give legitimacy to Fatah al-Sham to include it in the negotiations with the Syrian government, and added, “Damascus will never accept to take part in talk with terrorists.”

The expert pointed to the anti-terrorism military operations in Wadi al-Bardi parallel to nationwide reconciliation talks, and said, “Wadi al-Bardi will soon be purged of terrorists.”

Reports said earlier today that the army troops’ rapid advances against terrorists and wining back the villages of Basimeh and Ein al-Fijeh have paved the way for the reopening the flow of drinking water from Wadi al-Bardi to Damascus.

The army soldiers that engaged in fierce clashes with terrorist groups in Wadi al-Bardi region in Western Ghouta took full control over Basimeh and Ein al-Fijeh, while terrorists pulled back forces toward the village of Ein al-Khazra.

The army men are now involved in an intense battle with terrorists in Ein al-Khazra, forcing the militants to leave their positions in the village.

The army troops’ advances will soon enable maintenance groups deployed in Ein al-Fijeh region to repair its water facilities.

Syrian Minister of Waster Resources Nabil al-Hassan underlined that maintenance groups have entered Ein al-Fijeh and will start fixing the water facilities in the region.

Local sources meanwhile said that water pumping operation have started after several hours of work by maintenance groups in Ein al-Fijeh, adding that water will soon come back to Damascus residents.

But, some reports said that terrorists have targeted the regions near water reservoirs halting repairing process.
