Syria: ISIL Withdraws from More Positions Near Key Road to Aleppo
The army men, backed up by Syrian and Russian fighter jets and the country’s artillery and missile units, stormed ISIL’s defense lines near the strategic town of Khanasser and drove the terrorists out of the region, taking full control over the town.
The army men also clashed fiercely with ISIL terrorists and repelled their attack on government forces’ positions in the town of al-Humam along the army’s supply road from Hama to Aleppo.
The army soldiers further beat back ISIL form Khanasser-Aleppo road and restored full security to the road after capturing several hills overlooking the road.
Earlier today, field sources in Syria refuted ISIL’s claims about advancing near a key supply road of the government forces from Hama to Aleppo, underlining that the army is fully in charge of the road.
The sources rejected ISIL’s claims about their advances in the Eastern territories of the town of Khanasser, underlining that the army soldiers are in control in the region.
The sources said that hundreds of ISIL terrorists, backed up by suicide vehicles, artillery and missile units, took part in a massive offensive Southeast of Aleppo province to prevail over the government forces’ strongholds in the region to capture the heights and villages along the Khanasser-Ithriya road to cut off the army’s supply line from Hama to Aleppo but the army men repelled their offensives.
The sources further added that the ISIL has suffered over 60 casualties in its failed attack and a number of their bomb-landed suicide vehicles have thus far been damaged.
“The Syrian army and the Lebanese Hezbollah fighters have launched their joint operation in the region to reinvigorate security of Aleppo-Khanasser-Ithriya road since the beginning of this week and have managed to purge the Eastern parts of Khanasser of terrorists,” they added.
The ISIL will not be able to cut off the link between the Syrian army forces deployed in Aleppo with the Central parts of the country after restoration of security to the strategic road of Aleppo-Khanasser-Ithriya, the sources underscored.
