VIDEO: Roadside bomb sets alight Al-Nusra truck in Daraa
Syrian state media published footage on Wednesday suggesting the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) had targeted a vehicle of Jabhat Fateh al-Sham militants with an IED (improvised explosive device) in the southern province of Daraa.
Although the aftermath of the blast remains unclear, the pickup truck was clearly damaged by the roadside bomb while its passengers were likely injured.
Following the capture of Sheikh Meskin in January 2016, the SAA maintains a largely defensive posture in Daraa governorate while most of its military power is tied up in Aleppo and Damascus. Therefore, the SAA relies primarily on low-risk military tactics such as hit-and-run raids, snipers and roadside bombs.
