Latest field update, map of Aleppo battle
The battle of Aleppo has recently intensified with all parties opposing the Islamic State (ISIS) forces advancing in the Al-Bab Plateau and Deir Hafer Plain of the province.
While the Islamic State’s agreement to leave Al-Bab dominated the news last week, the Syrian Arab Army quietly liberated a large number of villages near the terrorist group’s stronghold of Deir Hafer.
On Monday, the Syrian Arab Army not only advanced against the Islamic State forces, but they also cutoff the Turkish Army’s route to the southeastern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate.
Should the Turkish Army choose to go to the Al-Raqqa Governorate, they will have to consider going through the northern part of the province, which requires them directly confront the Kurdish-led “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF).
In the coming weeks, the Syrian Arab Army will likely begin their assault on the strategic city of Deir Hafer, where they will look to expel the remaining terrorists to the Maskanah Plain.
