Syrian Army prepares for Hama battle as reinforcements pour
Huge reinforcements have poured into the northern Hama countryside as the Syrian Army vowed to recapture all territories lost to jihadi groups recently.
The reinforcements include tanks, artillery, armored vehicles, MLRD rocket launchers, as well as a significant number of the Army’s elite troops who have been fighting the Islamic State in east Aleppo countryside.
According to a military source, the military campaign against the jihadi groups in northern Hama aims at not only restoring the villages and towns recently seized by the Islamic militants during their latest offensive, but also recapturing new areas under the insurgents’ control in order to prevent potential attacks in the future.
An alliance of ultraconservative groups – led by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhet al-Nusra) – launched a massive assault on government positions in northern Hama, taking over large swathes of land.
