Abu Marzouk: Abbas’s threats to Gaza in response to US order
Member of the Hamas political bureau, Mousa Abu Marzouk, said on Monday that the threats of the Palestinian Authority (PA) president Mahmoud Abbas to Gaza are in response to the US orders on fighting “terrorism” and stopping the financial transfers to Gaza under the pretext that they are allocated for helping Hamas.
Abu Marzouk affirmed in press statements quoted by the Hamas official website that addressing the budget deficit must involve all employees not only the Gaza employees. He pointed out that the salaries of the Gaza employees are in continuous decrease since the division and what is paid to the PA employees in Gaza represents only 18% of the general PA budget.
Abu Marzouk stressed that the Administrative Committee established by Hamas Movement is not new, but it was formed the time the PA government, led by Rami Hamdallah, abandoned its responsibilities and obligations toward the Gaza Strip.
He emphasized that Hamas’s only enemy is Israel not Abbas and his government, noting that Abbas will not succeed in holding the Palestinian National Council (PNC) in Ramallah. He called instead for holding a unified PNC session abroad.
He pointed to the end of the internal elections of his Movement and stated that the only thing left is electing a new head and members for the Movement’s political bureau, which will be announced soon.
