Al-Nusra Heavily Defeated in Northern Hama, Army Continues Advance towards Terrorists’ Triangle

27 April 2017 17:32

The Syrian army repelled an al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) offensive launched by tens of terrorists in Northern Hama, and established its control in the region.

The army units warded off the attack that was aimed at reoccupying the village of al-Masaseneh in Northern Hama, inflicting heavy losses on the terrorists and destroying their military equipment.

A military source reported that tens of militants attacked the village with a large number of their military, armored and suicide vehicles but were faced with the Syrian army’s resistance.

Meantime, the Russian and Syrian fighter jets and the army’s artillery and missile units launched fierce attacks on the al-Nusra Front positions and moves in Morak, Kafr Zita and al-Latamina (also known as the terrorists’ triangle), killing and wounding tens of them and smashing several caches of arms, ammunition and military equipment.

The army also stabilized control over the points recently retaken from the terrorists in Northern Hama.

Reports said on Wednesday that the Syrian army soldiers started a fresh round of anti-terrorism operation to liberate the town of al-Latamina, the last bastion of Al-Nusra Front in Northern Hama.

Army sources said that the operation kicked off with heavy raids of the Russian and Syrian fighter jets against Al-Nusra positions in al-Latamina, adding that the ground troops later stormed Al-Nusra’s defense lines from several directions and engaged in clashes with them.

Another military source reported that tens of Al-Nusra terrorists have been killed or wounded and their military equipment also have sustained major damage in the operation, adding that the army has thus far liberated 66 hills, villages, settlements and towns in it’s recent operations in Northern and Western Hama.
