6 May 2017 16:01

The Syrian Army is preparing a large number of fresh soldiers to send them to the Eastern province of Deir Ezzur to intensify battle against ISIL, military sources said on Saturday.

The sources said that the Syrian army reinforcements deployed in Eastern Damascus will be transferred to the battlefields in Deir Ezzur to intensify fight against ISIL.

The soldiers will land at the 137th military base in the Southern countryside of the city in a heliborne operation.

Reports from Syria also said that once the de-escalation zones plan comes into force, a large number of army soldiers in the zones will be sent to fight against terrorists in other provinces.

The Arabic-language desk of Sputnik quoted the Russian Kommersant daily as saying on Thursday that four zones of de-escalation would be created in Idlib province, Northern Homs, Eastern Ghouta and Southern Syria.

It added that based on the plan the zones would be emptied of weapons as there would be a tight ban on the use of firearms in these zones.

The paper went on to say that the four zones would be open to humanitarian organizations, adding that construction operation of civil infrastructures would start in the zones.

The paper added that according to the plan, several checkpoints would be erected at the borderlines of these four zones for inspection to ease transfer of civilians and humanitarian aids.

The inspection and checking points would operate under the supervision and guarding of the foreign military forces guaranteed by Russia, Turkey and Iran.

Relevant reports said on Friday that the Syrian army and air force intensified their military operations and airstrikes against the ISIL terrorist group in Deir Ezzur to break the siege of the city’s military airport, destroying several military positions and concentration centers of the terrorists.

The ISIL’s positions and headquarters came under the heavy strikes of the Syrian air force and were destroyed.

Meantime, the Syrian army and the National Defense Forces (NDF) launched large-scale military operation on Deir Ezzur city cemetery advancing towards the Republican Guard Regiment base.

According to reports, pro-government forces reached outskirts of the base after killing and wounding at least 10 ISIL militants.

The Syrian army units targeted and pounded the ISIL’s movements in the surrounding areas of Junayd Division Southwest of Tamin Brigade base which resulted in the destruction of a military vehicle as well as death and injury of a number of terrorists.

The Syrian army also launched a series of artillery and missile attacks on ISIL gatherings at Raqqa bridge and in the area West of Al-Sanouf hill, inflicting heavy casualties in ISIL ranks, while also damaging their positions and equipment.

The Syrian air force launched heavy attacks on ISIL’s military positions in al-Rasafeh, the surrounding areas of al-Maqaber (cemetery) region, al-Thardah region and bloc-manufacturing factories which resulted in the death and injury of a large number of terrorists and destruction of their weapons and ammunition.
