Top Commander: Iran to Give Swift, Crushing Response to Enemy Aggression

9 May 2017 13:30

The Iranian Armed Forces will show a swift and crushing reaction to any aggression by the enemies, Chief of Staff of the Iran’s Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri said, downplaying military threats against the country.

“The enemies should know that in case of any miscalculation or the smallest aggression against the Islamic Republic and the Islamic territories (of Iran), the swift, decisive and crushing response in regions that we decide will make them regret their deeds and will defeat them,” General Baqeri said, addressing a ceremony in Tehran on Monday.

He, meantime, underlined the enemies’ weakness and incapability to launch a military war against Iran.

General Baqeri also said that the enemies’ use of a number of terrorists to make Iran insecure will bring them nothing but humiliation.

In relevant remarks in April, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan downplayed the US and its allies’ war rhetoric, but meantime warned that the country’s Armed Forces will give a swift and crushing response to any aggressive military move.

“The decisions made after the inauguration of US President Donald Trump and repetition of those approaches, which have already been tested, can lead to uncontrollable consequences,” General Dehqan told reporters.

The Iranian Defense Minister warned the new US administration not to make any uncalculated move or it will face Iran’s tough response.

General Dehqan said that the new developments in the Middle East and other parts of the world as well as issues related to cyberspace would be on the agenda of the two-day security meeting, scheduled to open on Wednesday.

“The ways to counter Takfirism and terrorism in Syria, Yemen and across the Middle East will also be discussed at the meeting,” the Iranian Defense Minister said.
