Syrian Army prepares to attack last ISIL bastion in Aleppo
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) seized the strategic Jirah Airbase in the eastern countryside of Aleppo on Friday, marking the first time in four years that they have had any presence at this military installation.
With Jirah Airbase under their control, the Syrian Arab Army’s Tiger Forces have turned their attention to the imperative Maskanah Plain in southeast Aleppo.
The Maskanah Plain is the Islamic State’s last bastion in the Aleppo Governorate; and if it is captured by the Syrian Arab Army, then the terrorist group will no longer have a presence in this province.
More importantly, the capture of the Maskanah Plain will also secure the Syrian government’s only supply route to the Aleppo Governorate and pave the way for their reentry into Al-Raqqa.
In the coming weeks, the Syrian Arab Army will begin this offensive in conjunction with their comrades pushing north from Palmyra; this will expedite the collapse of ISIL in northern and central Syria.
