Syrian Army’s Tiger Forces keep rolling in east Aleppo
Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) elite Tiger Forces division continued its rapid advance against so-called “Islamic State” (IS, formerly ISIL/ISIS) in eastern Aleppo countryside on Sunday afternoon.
Having secured Al-Samlajiyah village and Al-Khuzaim fuel station liberated earlier today, government forces advanced further southwards, breaking through IS defenses and capturing an important Tal Fiddah hill which overlooks 4 towns located south of it.
The hill itself is situated directly south of Jirrah Airbase.
With these gains, SAA is now in position to enter Maskanah plains, that has been an IS stronghold for nearly two years.
Current Army’s positions are just 10 kilometres to the north of the imperative town of Maskanah which has been a primary target for government troops since liberation of Jirrah Airbase earlier this month.
