24 May 2017 10:51

The Syrian Army forwarded a large number of fresh soldiers to Southeastern Homs to join the pro-government forces’ anti-terrorism operation at the border with Iraq, a field source revealed on Tuesday.

The source said that hundreds of army forces that had left their bases in Damascus and Aleppo province for the Southern part of the war-hit country few days ago have arrived in Southeastern Homs to intensify anti-terrorism operations in the region.

The source added that the deployment of fresh forces is aimed at strengthening the pro-government forces’ combat capabilities in the Badiya (desert) region in Southeastern Homs that is the scene of bloody clashes between the Damascus troops and the US-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) militants.

Media sources reported on Sunday that the terrorists groups dispatched fresh forces and more equipment to slow down the Syrian Army troops’ rapid advances near the town of al-Tanf at the border with Jordan and Iraq.

ARA news quoted sources linked with the terrorists groups as saying that the army soldiers managed to take control of Aqda al-Zarqa’a region near the border passageway of al-Tanf at Homs’ border with Iraq.

ARA news also said that the terrorist groups forwarded a large number of forces and a large volume of military equipment to al-Tanf region to push the army men back from the newly-liberated region of Aqda al-Zarqa’a towards Zaza checkpoint and al-Saba’a Bayar region.

The terrorist sources also disclosed that they received a new series of heavy arms and equipment, including anti-tank missile and heavy military vehicles and other equipment from the US.
