Battle for Deir Ezzor reaches critical stages as terrorist ISIL makes another push
The Islamic State (ISIL) launched a powerful offensive in the western countryside of the Deir Ezzor Governorate this past weekend, capturing several points from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) troops near the strategic 137th Artillery Brigade Base.
ISIL would resume its operations in the western countryside, Tuesday night, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s positions near the Panorama Roundabout and large hilltop of Tal Sanouf.
With a large number of ISIL terrorist storming the Syrian Army’s defenses around the 137th Brigade Base, the Russian Air Force once again intervened on behalf of the government to help drive back the terrorists.
According to a military source in Deir Ezzor, the Syrian Arab Army has managed to foil all advances by the Islamic State, while killing and wounding dozens of the latter’s terrorist combatants.
Despite their high casualty count, ISIL remains poised to break the Syrian Arab Army’s last lines around the Panorama Roundabout and Tal Sanouf; however, they are running out of time to do so, as the government prepares to send reinforcements to drive back the terrorists.
