21 June 2017 17:10

The Syrian army backed by the country’s air force warded off attacks by ISIL and Al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) on government forces’ military positions, inflicting heavy losses on them.

The Syrian army units engaged in heavy clashes with ISIL terrorists who were trying to penetrate into areas near Ain al-Dananir village and West of al-Moshrefeh town from Ain Hossein Jonoubi village Northeast of Homs and foiled their attacks.

The Syrian government troops killed most of the invaders and forced the rest of them to flee the scene.

On the other hand, other Syrian army troops engaged in heavy clashes with Al-Nusra Front terrorists near the two villages of Marimien and Qarmes in al-Holeh region in the Northwestern part of Homs. The Al-Nusra Front terrorists had attacked the government troops’ military positions in areas near al-Houleh region.

Meantime, the Syrian army’s artillery and missile units also pounded the Al-Nusran Front’s military positions in the same region, killing and injuring a number of terrorists as well as destroying their military vehicles.

The Syrian air force also hit hard areas under the Al-Nusra Front’s control in the village of Kafr Laha, Al-Tayyeba Qarbi and Tal Zahab in the outskirts of al-Houleh, inflicting heavy losses on them.

In a relevant development on Monday, the Syrian army kept momentum of its march on ISIL positions in Homs, and deployed troops at the entrance of the terrorist group’s last stronghold in the Eastern parts of the province.

The army units managed to fully recapture the protected area of Talileh (Mahmieh al-Talileh) East of the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur).

Meantime, a military source reiterated that the Syrian soldiers also seized control of the Third power plant in Eastern Palmyra after reinforcing their military positions in Mahmieh al-Talileh region.

The source also underlined that the Third Power Plant is the starting point for Syria’s military operations towards al-Sukhnah region.

“The Syrian troops will pave their way to enter Deir Ezzur and break the siege of the city and its airport,” he added.
