Syrian Army on the roll in east Damascus despite fabrications of chemical attack
Earlier today, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) decisively broke through the southern rebel defensive line in the Ayn Tarma suburb, scoring new gains while infantry and tanks brushed aside ferocious insurgent resistance.
According to a source close to Al-Masdar News, the SAA’s 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard captured some 15 buildings blocks east of the Southern Bypass Highway (M5-Highway) after clashing with Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) and Failaq Al-Rahman (FSA).
The large-scale government offensive is aimed at linking up with another pincer targeting the eastern sector of Jobar, ultimately looking to sever all supply lines between this embattled east Damascus neighborhood and the rebel mainland in the East Ghouta.
The source added that no chlorine gas attack took place on Friday as the FSA had otherwise claimed in an online bulletin. He said Islamist commanders were desperate, causing them to make up excuses for their loss of territory.
