Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Purges Terrorists from More Regions in Damascus Countryside

The Syrian army continued its mop-up operations in the Eastern countryside of Damascus by purging terrorists from key regions.

The army units also pushed back terrorists from took back their positions advanced further into Eastern Ghouta.

The Syrian troops killed tens of terrorists and injured dozens more in fierce clashes over controlling of strategic regions. They also destroyed military equipment of the terrorists.

The Syrian army also continued its advances in other key provinces across Syria.

Damascus

The Syrian Army troops continued their advances against terrorists in Eastern Ghouta, killing at least 25 militants and wounding several more.

The army men engaged in a tough battle with Al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) in Jobar and Ein Terma regions, while the army’s artillery units opened heavy fire at terrorists’ positions behind the frontline.

In the meantime, the Syrian Air Force carried out several combat sorties over Al-Nusra’s positions in Jobar and Ein Terma.

A military source said the army units have won back several positions in their anti-terrorism operation in Jobar and Ein Terma.

The source pointed to the collapse of the terrorist front and said that 25 members of Al-Nusra were killed in the clashes with the army.

An operation room that coordinated the movements of terrorist groups was also destroyed in the army attacks.

Raqqa

The Predominately Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) continued their anti-ISIL operation codenamed the Euphrates Rage in Northeastern Syria and entered more neighborhoods in Raqqa city.

The Kurdish fighters engaged in tough battle with ISIL in the Southeastern part of Raqqa city and took full control over the township of al-Tatleh.

In the meantime, the SDF managed to prevail over ISIL’s defense lines and entered Hosham Bin Abdul Malik neighborhood in the Southern part of the city, al-Yarmouk in West and Old Raqqa neighborhood East of the city.

The SDF has thus far captured half of Hosham Bin Abdul Malik neighborhood. The Kurdish-led SDF, meantime, drove ISIL out of the Eastern part of Old Raqqa.

The ISIL has lost over 30 fighters in the clashes.

Homs

The Syrian Army troops continued their operation to drive ISIL out of the strategic region of Aqayrabat in Southern Hama to open a new way towards Deir Ezzur via Northern Homs, local sources reported.

The sources said that a large number of army soldiers have reached the oil pipeline and the regions near the town of Aqayrabat near the provincial border with Homs province that are considered the last stronghold of the ISIL in Eastern Hama.

A senior military source, meantime, said that the army men managed to capture the hills near the road that connects al-Salamiyah city in Hama to the town of Khanasser in Aleppo, ending ISIL’s repeated attacks to cut off the key supply line towards Aleppo.

The source further thanked army for its control over the hills Shahed 9 and 10 that overlook al-Salamiyah-Khanasser road, the pro-government forces intend to win back the town of Aqayrabat, the largest and the most strategic base of the ISIL near al-Salamiyah and also open a new front to move towards Deir Ezzur via Northern Homs.

Deir Ezzur

One of the most notorious European commanders of the ISIL terrorist group and the right hand man of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was killed in a joint operation of the Syrian Special Forces and the Russian Air Force at the border with Iraq.

Lavdrim al-Mohajeri, the senior Albanian commander of the ISIL nom de guerre Abu Abdullah Knosovo’yee, was killed along with six of his guards in an airstrike by the Russian warplanes in coordination with the Syrian Army’s Tiger Forces.

The hunted Albanian commander of ISIL was responsible for the massacre and abduction of the people, and the main the mastermind of ISIL’s terrorist operation abroad.

Iraqi media quoted Fadhel Abu Raqif, a security expert, as saying that al-Mohajeri was killed in an air raid at Syria’s border with Iraq.

Al-Mohajeri that was on a 4-month-long trip to Albania and Kosovo came back to Syria in May.
