Breaking: Syrian Army surrounds ISIL’s last Homs stronghold
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has successfully surrounded the Islamic State (ISIL) stronghold of Al-Sukhnah from several different axes, a military source reported moments ago.
According to the source, the Syrian Arab Army has surrounded Al-Sukhnah from its western, southwestern, southern, and southeastern axes.
The Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Corps was able to reach the western axis of Al-Sukhnah, today, after liberating the strategic mountain of Jabal Tantour, giving them fire control over the western neighborhood of the city.
The Syrian military will likely leave the eastern axis of the city open in order to encourage the Islamic State to withdraw, instead of entrenching themselves for a long siege.
