Yemeni Army’s Missiles Inflict Heavy Casualties on Saudi-Led Troops in Assir Province

The Yemeni army and popular forces’ missiles and artillery units pounded the gatherings of the Saudi-led forces in Assir province in Southern Saudi Arabia, killing and wounding over 100 troops.

The Yemeni missiles hit Alab military base in Assir province, killing and wounding over 100 Saudi-led troops.

The Yemeni sources confirmed that the Yemeni army and popular forces hit Alab military base with Zalzal-2 missiles and Katyusha rockets

“More than 100 Saudi-led forces were either killed or wounded in the Yemeni army attacks,” the Arabic-language Sabanet news agency quoted a military source as saying.

In a relevant development on Thursday, Yemen’s Ansarullah Forces, backed by the Yemeni Army, captured a number of military bases of the Saudi Army on the territory of Saudi Arabia in Assir Region.

The Yemeni media affiliated with the Ansarullah forces recorded footage showing the aftermath of a successful storming of one these bases, the al-Majaza Base, located in Asir region in Southern Saudi Arabia, Al Masdar reported.

According to reports, Ansarullah forces stormed the base and forced the Saudi troops to retreat from the area.

After capturing the installation, the Yemeni forces burned all abandoned military vehicles inside it and then seized weapons and ammunition of the Saudi Army which had also been left behind.

The seizure of al-Majaza Base was just part of a greater offensive launched by the Yemen Army forces and their popular allies on the territory of Saudi Arabia about one week ago.

In a relevant development last week, Yemen’s Zalzal-2 missiles targeted the gathering centers of the Saudi-backed militias in Yakhtal area of al-Mukha region in Ta’iz province, killing and injuring several of them as well as destroying their military vehicles and equipment.

The missile attack came after the Saudi-led fighter jets struck al-Far region in the town of Kataf in Sa’ad province three times.

Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen since March 2015 to restore power to fugitive president Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh. The Saudi-led aggression has so far killed at least 14,300 Yemenis, including hundreds of women and children.

Despite Riyadh’s claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi bombers are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.

According to several reports, the Saudi-led air campaign against Yemen has drove the impoverished country towards humanitarian disaster, however the Riyadh regime has failed to reach its goals despite suffering great expense.

Nearly 3.3 million Yemeni people, including 2.1 million children, are currently suffering from acute malnutrition. The Al-Saud aggression has also taken a heavy toll on the country’s facilities and infrastructure, destroying many hospitals, schools, and factories.
