Deputy DM: Iran Producing Best Modern Weapons
“We don’t have any problem in manufacturing the best state-of-the-art weapons in the world in a way that the modern weapons that we have built can rival with their best foreign counterparts,” General Tamizi said on Tuesday.
He added that Iran plans to replace its old arms that have been used by the country’s Armed Forces in the past years with modern weapons.
In relevant remarks in July, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stressed the country’s high defense power, and said his government has boosted production of home-made weapons to a large degree.
“Major tasks have been carried out to equip the military forces with strategic weapons,” President Rouhani said, addressing a forum in Tehran.
“As the defense minister has announced, the strategic weapons manufactured during the eleventh government (President Rouhani’s first 4-year tenure) are 80% of arms produced before,” he added.
Also, in May, former Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan announced that the country’s capacity to produce combat weapons has seen an astonishing growth in the last four years.
“The capacity to manufacture individual combat weapons, including Kalashnikov, and mass combat arms like different machineguns has folded a 100 times since 4 years ago,” General Dehqan said.
Stressing that the government has focused on producing different military equipment, including ballistic and cruise missiles and has progressed in this area astonishingly, he said, “Today we have reached a level of power and capability in the missile field that we can produce missiles with any destruction and precision-striking power.”
