Libya: Migrant boats reportedly burnt by Libyan coastguard in the Med.
Libyan coastguard picked up eight inflatable boats with some 1,047 migrants and refugees aboard before reportedly setting fire to the vessels, off the Libyan coast, Saturday. Following the interception the coastguard then brought those aboard back to the coastal city of Zawya, west of Tripoli.
After receiving humanitarian assistance, the migrants were handed over to the Immigration Control Agency in Zawya.
Libyan coastguard prevents migrants from trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea to Europe, they do so with support from the European Union.
