Velayati: Vigilant IRGC wards off many threats
Ali Akbar Velayati, head of the Strategic Research Center of Iran’s Expediency Council said on Sunday that the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) has vigilantly repulsed many threats against the country.
Speaking to reporters, he said based on Iran’s constitution, the IRGC is the guardian of Iran’s revolution.
The IRGC burdens a very grave responsibility and is very deeply rooted within the nation, Velayati said.
Our enemies, mainly the Americans and Zionists, are well aware of the significant role of the IRGC in defending the country, Islamic system, supporting Iran’s friends in the region and the Resistance Movement in particular, Velayati said.
In the absence of training of IRGC, the current Iraqi and Syrian governments had been uprooted and the US puppets such as Daesh in Baghdad and Damascus had taken full control, he said.
On current developments in Iraqi Kurdistan, he said firm determination of the Iraqi nation is essential in maintaining the country’s integrity.
The measure adopted by Masoud Barzani (a Kurdish politician who has been President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region) was against national identity and interest of the Iraqi nation and never bear fruits, Velayati said.
The Iraqi government and its army are opposed to any disintegration, Velayati said, adding that in case the Iraqi government asks for any help, Iran would never hesitate to help them.
