Iraqi forces capture Syrian border-crossing
The Iraqi Armed Forces have taken control of the Rabi’a border-crossing this afternoon following a short operation in this formerly Kurdish-held part of the Nineveh Governorate.
Led by the Federal Police, the Iraqi Armed Forces launched a new operation this morning that targeted two important border-towns located northwest of recently liberated Tal ‘Afar.
Once the operation began, the Kurdish Peshmerga forces that were in control of Rabi’a had abandoned their posts along the border and conceded this area to the Federal Police without a fight.
The Federal Police are now attempting to secure the nearby town of Zumar, which is still controlled by the Peshmerga.
