18 October 2017 15:31

Zionist forces have carried out overnight raids on the offices of multiple Palestinian media outlets and production firms in the occupied West Bank, closing them down for a six-month period.

According to media reports, Israeli troops confiscated equipment and made arrests during the raids in the early hours of Wednesday that targeted eight Palestinian media companies in al-Khalil (Hebron) and Nablus, Bethlehem and Ramallah.

Among that outlets that came under attack were Al-Quds Channel, Pal Media, Trans Media as well as the Al-Aqsa and Palestine Alyoum channels.

The Israeli army claimed the media companies are suspected of distributing “incitement” materials.

The attacks led to clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinian protesters, Ma’an news agency reported.

According to eye witnesses, Israeli forces fired rubber bullets and tear gas at the protesters, injuring some of them. They also arrested 23 Palestinians across the West Bank.

In late August, dozens of Israeli forces raided the headquarters of Palestinian radio station al-Hurria station in the city of al-Khalil and shut down the media outlet for six months. The Israeli forces also confiscated technical equipment of the station during the raid.

The latest Israeli crackdown comes a week after Palestinian factions, Fatah and Hamas, angered the regime in Tel Aviv by signing a landmark reconciliation deal with the aim of ending a decade-long dispute and form a national unity government.
