Lebanese figures criticize Hariri surprise resignation
Lebanese political figures on Saturday criticized Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s surprise resignation in the Saudi Arabia capital, Riyadh.
In reaction, Head of the Arab Tawhid party Wiam Wahhab expressed regret over Hariiri’s resignation and posed the question that why he has resigned in Riyadh.
Meantime, Leader of the Progressive Socialist Party Walid Bey Jumblatt said that Lebanon is weak and ‘cannot bear the heavy burden of economic and political problems resulting from Hariri resignation.’
Justice Minister Salim Jreissati said that Hariri resignation is ‘mysterious’.
Lebanon parliament lawmaker Ziad al-Aswad said that ‘Hariri declaring his resignation from inside Saudi Arabia has no justification ‘.
Saudis’ recent remarks showed that Saudis are seeking to make trouble in Lebanon, he noted.
Arabic language Al-Mayadeen TV Network quoted the ministerial sources as saying that Hariri has resigned under severe pressures.
Lebanon presidential office has declared that Hariri has informed Lebanese President Michel Aoun about his resignation and the president is waiting for his return to hear the cause of his resignation.
Hariri resigned Saturday, during a trip to Saudi Arabia in a surprise move that plunged the country into uncertainty amid heightened regional tensions.
