Intense clashes breakout after Palestinian shot dead by Israeli settler
Clashes erupted in the occupied West Bank on Thursday after a Palestinian man was shot dead by an Israeli settler near the village of Qusra.
According to a report released by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), an armed settler who was accompanying a group of 20 Israeli hikers, mostly children, opened fire and shot the man after the group came under attack by stone throwers and had to hide in a cave.
But Palestinians say the dead man, who was later identified as 48-year-old Mahmoud Ouda from Qusra, was a farmer working on his land who refused to move when Israeli soldiers came to rescue the hikers.
Two Israeli believed to acting as minders to the hikers were also injured and taken to hospital for treatment.
