Nine dead bodies found in Canada’s Alberta province

Nine people have been found dead in what police are calling a “senseless mass murder” in Canada’s western Alberta province.

According to police on Tuesday, a man shot and killed eight people, six adults and two children, before killing himself on Monday.

The bodies were found in three different locations in the city of Edmonton.

Edmonton police chief Rod Knecht referred to the incident as the worst mass killing in the city since 1956 when six people were killed.

“Our thoughts go out to the community as we all come to terms with the senseless mass murder of eight people,” he said at a news conference.

He went on to say the police are not looking for further suspects because the murders are “instances of domestic violence.”

He added that the names of the victims or the killer would not be released.
