Syrian Army, IRGC ready forces for big counter-offensive against ISIS in Deir Ezzor
A large number of Syrian Arab Army (SAA) were sent to the Deir Ezzor Governorate city of Al-Mayadeen, Wednesday, to help in the ongoing battle against the Islamic State (ISIS) in this rural region of eastern Syria.
The reinforcements arrived just in time, as the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and their allies from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Hezbollah, Hashd Al-Sha’abi, and Liwaa Al-Fatemiyoun prepare to launch an important counter-offensive to retake the territory they lost to ISIS this week.
In particular, the Syrian Army and their allies will once again attack the key town of Al-Salihiyah, which was captured ISIS on Tuesday morning.
According to a military source in Deir Ezzor City, ISIS does not have the manpower needed to control the ten towns they recently captured along the Euphrates River.
Due to their manpower issues, the terrorist group will likely withdraw across the river once the Syrian military and their allies begin their attack.
The source added that the Syrian Army’s counter-attack is expected to be launched soon; however, no specific date was mentioned.
