Hamas holds PA government responsible for Gazans’ suffering
Hamas Movement on Wednesday held the Palestinian Authority (PA) president, Mahmoud Abbas, and the PA government’s premier, Rami Hamdallah, responsible for the tragic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
Hamas’s spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said in a press statement that his Movement holds Abbas and the PA government fully responsible for the current disastrous situation in Gaza which has affected all aspects of life, mainly the health sector which is on the verge of collapse.
Barhoum explained that this situation is a result of the PA government’s failure to assume its responsibilities toward the Palestinian people in Gaza and its refusal to lift the sanctions imposed on them by the PA president.
Hamas stressed that there is no justification for the continuation of this “abhorrent policy” and called on Abbas and the PA government to provide a decent life for the Palestinians in both Gaza and the West Bank.
Since Hamas announced in September dissolving Gaza’s administrative committee and handing over all government institutions to the PA government in Ramallah, none of the punitive measures imposed on the besieged territory had been lifted including those related to the health sector.
