MP Masri calls for further efforts to defend Jerusalem
Thousands of Palestinians took part in a demonstration organized by Hamas movement in Gaza following Friday prayer in rejection of the US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
The Hamas official, MP Mushir al-Masri, said in his speech during the demonstration, which witnessed the participation of a number of Hamas leaders including the head of the Movement’s Political Bureau, Ismail Haneyya, that Hamas vows to make every possible effort to overturn the US decision.
Masri hailed the masses protesting the US move all around the world and called for more efforts by the Arab and Muslim nations to protect Jerusalem.
He affirmed that the Israeli occupation of Palestine is destined to end, stressing the need to establish a unified national strategy based on achieving Palestinian reconciliation first to confront the current challenges targeting Jerusalem.
Masri called on Fatah movement to take positive steps similar to those taken by Hamas to make the reconciliation succeed and asked the Palestinian Authority government to lift the sanctions imposed on the Palestinian people in Gaza and assume its responsibilities toward them.
