Syria’s Resistance against Aggressors Prevented Its Breakup: Iranian MP
Speaking at a meeting with Syrian Parliament Speaker Hammoudeh Sabbagh in Damascus on Sunday, Hojatoleslam Ahmad Salek offered his congratulations over the recent victories of the Syrian army and allied forces against foreign-backed terrorist groups.
He further emphasized that Syria’s enemies that have sought to disintegrate the Arab country and undermine its power have faced defeat.
“The resistance and unity of the Syrian nation against the aggressors prevented the breakup of the country,” the Iranian lawmaker added.
The Syrian parliament speaker, for his part, expressed his gratitude to Iran for supporting the Syrian nation and government and said the Islamic Republic has been the main backer of the Resistance Front against terrorism and the Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) terror group in Syria and the region.
In recent years, the Middle East has been plagued with Takfiri terrorist groups like Daesh, which are believed to have been created and supported by the West and some regional Arab countries.
The self-proclaimed caliphate of Daesh collapsed in Syria and Iraq after the Arab countries’ forces and their allies managed to recapture Al-Bukamal, the terror group’s last stronghold in Syria.
The terrorist groups, which claim to be Islamic but whose actions are anything but, have committed heinous crimes not only against non-Muslims but mostly against Muslims in the region.
In the meantime, Iran has remained a close ally of Syria and Iraq and supported their legitimate governments in the face of foreign-backed militancy.
