Trump 10 points lower than all US presidents in 1st year
Trump has earned 10 points lower than all US presidents in his first year in office, a poll shows.
The Republican president first year in the White House saw myriad ups and downs and Trump ended up getting a 38.4 percent average in his job approval rating, according to the Gallup poll released Monday.
The former reality TV star naturally fits in the top 10 worst job approval ratings category since 1945, when the opinion poll firm started recording the measurement regularly.
For former President Barack Obama, the figure stood much higher at 57.2 percent, while Bill Clinton before him averaged 49.3 percent, serving as the only other commander in chief to average below 50 percent in the first year.
Since World War II, six out of the 10 most powerful men in America scored even higher with a job approval rating at 60 percent or more.
Since he assumed office last year following his 2016 presidential victory, Trump has been struggling with low ratings.
Some experts argue that the reason for his constantly decreasing ratings is his failure to keep campaign promises, such as repealing Obamacare or building a wall on the Mexican border.
