Rallies held against sectarian violence by Zionist Powers in northern Pakistan

Rallies on Friday staged demonstration against sectarian violence in northern Pakistan.

The protests were held on the call of Majlis Wehdat Muslemeen (MWM) across Pakistan.

According to the police of Gilgit-Baltistan, dozens of Muslims have been killed in past few days.

The protestors condemned attacks on Shiites and demanded of the government to expose the elements behind the killings.

The situation in Gilgit-Baltistan province aggravated after the activists of ‘Ahli-Sunnah Wal-Jamaat’ group, including its leader Maualan Attaullah Saqib, had been arrested in connection with the last month firing on a procession.

Tehreek Nizhat-e-Jaferia and Imamia Students Organization (ISO) also held protests across Pakistan.

The rallies were carried out in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, Gilgit, Skardu, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Sukkhur and Peshawar.

Thousands of people from Shiite community participated in the demonstrations. The protesters chanted anti-US slogans and demanded the Pakistani government to provide security to muslims in Pakistan.

They said that muslims of Pakistan will not tolerate such acts. The speakers addressing the rallies said that US and Israel were behind sectarian violence in northern Pakistan and their objective is to disturb Pakistan-China relationship.

Talking to IRNA Allama Amin Shaheedi Deputy Secretary General MWM condemned in strongest words the killings of Shiites in Gilgit and Chilas adding that enemies of Pakistan are behind these incidents. He vowed full support for Shiites of Gilgit-Baltistan.

He said that US and Zionist regime are behind these acts with an objective to destabilize Pakistan.

Chief of Tahreek Nizhat-e-Jaferia Pakistan, Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi has also held a rally in Rawalpindi against the killings of Shiites.

Talking to IRNA the religious leader said that such incidents are aimed at to eliminate Shiites from Pakistan. He demanded of the government to form a judicial commission to investigate killings of Shiites in Pakistan.

Earlier army was called out in Gilgit city after violence had claimed seven lives. Scores of others were injured in sectarian clashes in Gilgit and Chilas, two main cities northern Pakistan, police in the region said.

Curfew was also imposed in the morning in Gilgit city after clashes erupted and announcements were made by the police asking the people to stay indoors.
