ISIL Fails to Prevail over Syrian Army Positions in Southern Damascus

13 March 2018 21:22

The Syrian Army troops fended off a heavy offensive of the ISIL terrorist group in the Southern countryside of Damascus city as the Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board) and its allied militant groups have started withdrawing from the al-Qadam region, local sources reported on Tuesday.

The sources reported that the army men engaged in heavy fighting with ISIL terrorists in al-Qadam, Hajar al-Aswad and al-Thalathin street in the Yarmouk Palestinian Refugees Camp and repelled terrorists’ attacks.

The sources said that the ISIL tried to occupy the positions of other terrorist groups that had left al-Qadam for Idlib.

The sources further said that tens of ISIL terrorists, including Abu al-Majd al-Darawi, a field commander, were killed in the army’s artillery attack in Hajar al-Aswad.

Field sources said earlier today that the first group of Al-Nusra terrorists, allied groups and their family members left al-Qadam region in Southern Damascus for Idlib in an agreement with the army.

They said that 600 militants and their family members will leave al-Qadam in the first phase of evacuation.

The total number of terrorists and their family members in al-Qadam stands at 2,000.

The militant who do not want to leave al-Qadam for Idlib are to hand over their arms and ammunition and will apply for government amnesty.
