Leader of Islamic Ummah Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei: Iran not after Hollywood-style policing

Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei has described the establishment of security as the main mission of Iran’s Police Force, saying the Islamic Republic is not after Hollywood-style policing.

Addressing a group of senior Iranian police officers in Tehran on Sunday, the Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei said Iran’s Police Force is the symbol of the Islamic Republic’s “sovereignty and security,” adding that the police should guarantee social security with “might.”

Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei stressed, however, that such “police might” needs to be accompanied by “justice” and “mercy” toward the people, adding that the Islamic Republic is not after the policing style advertised in Hollywood or elsewhere in the Western societies.

Such type of police clout “will not only fail to bring about security, but leads to more insecurity,” Supreme Leader said.

The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei also slammed the police brutality against the African-American community in the United States, saying black people in the US are subjected to “oppression” and “humiliation” by police officials, a behavior which has been behind the outbreak of social unrest in the country.

Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei further emphasized the need for the strengthening of social security as the main mission of Iran’s police forces, adding, “The establishment of security is not a matter of rhetoric and propaganda, but the public should feel that security exists.”

The Supreme Leader further hailed the efforts made by Iran’s Police Force to guarantee calm and security in the society, calling on the officials of other sectors to cooperate with the police in their mission.
