Shia Sunni unity is an achievement of Iran Revolution
Iranian cleric highlighted Muslim unity, passing sectarian and tribal atmospheres and also spread of fraternity in Islamic society as some of the achievements of the Islamic Revolution.
Hujjat-ol-Islam Ahmad Moballeghi, Head of the Islamic Research in Iran Parliament praised the victory Islamic Revolution in boosting Muslim unity and that the movement has maintained its Islamic nature even in its name, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He said, “Islamic Revolution has victoriously passed the sectarian atmospheres and although the majority of the people were Shia it is called Islamic Revolution of Iran rather than Shia Revolution.”

The cleric warned against the present situation in the world and said,” In the special political and cultural situation of the Muslim world, movements like excommunication, cursing and desecration of sanctities mar Shia-Sunni relations.”

Dean of the University of Islamic Denominations said,” Ten Days of Dawn is the fruit of a solidarity and Muslim Unity Week is clearly aimed at increasing unity among two main denominations in Islam.”

Shia scholar lauded Islamic Revolution and Muslim Unity Week as two landmarks in the history because each one brought a great change in a particular era.

Hujjat-ol-Islam Moballeghi noted,” Islamic Revolution, by stressing unity, issued the important message for necessity of Shia and Sunni pursuit of unity based on their respect for Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).”

The scholar also praised the Islamic nature and the message of both Iran’s 1979 revolution and the week for boosting unity among Islamic denominations.

“Solidarity between Shia and Sunni was both in the thoughts of the revolutionary people and in the practical arena to achieve Islamic Revolution.” He said.

This cleric also related on the necessities of realization of Shia Sunni unity saying,” Although Muslim unity week was a prior effort for this ideology but this is not enough to bring a change, rather in this path some more fundamental changes than naming a week as the Muslim Unity Week is needed.”

He concluded,” These are not sufficient for a great project that aims at balancing the relations in Muslim world, prevailing Islamic and humane relations between Shia and Sunni and penetrate economic, cultural and social layers.”
