Abu Marzouk in remarks published on his Facebook page on Thursday called for the formation of a committee from all the national and Islamic forces to protect Jerusalem which will never be given up, he said.

“We have to support our people in Jerusalem and 1948 occupied Palestine, protect them and defend our mosque. As Palestinians we have to stage marches and sit-ins every Friday, in all the villages and cities of Palestine, in support of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa, and to resist the occupation forces and settlers.”

Abu Marzouk called on all Arabs, Muslims and Christians not respond to the calls to visit Jerusalem under the occupation, and said: “the holy sites need that we liberate them, rather than support the decisions of the Knesset that consider them tourist attractions belonging to the occupation municipality.”

He stated that the Israeli occupation forces is waging a war on Al-Aqsa Mosque; pointing that on Wednesday it closed all the mosque’s gates used by Muslims and opened the Mughrabi Gate to the Israelis. The forces also fired live ammunition, rubber bullets and tear gas grenades towards the worshipers who gathered in Al-Aqsa to defend it.

The Hams official said the occupation is adopting a policy of imposing fait accompli on the mosque in order to enhance the Jewish control over it.
