Al-Azhar condemns Israel’s killing of Gaza protesters
Egypt’s al-Azhar al-Sharif on Saturday slammed the international community’s silence vis-à-vis zionist Israel’s use of lethal force against peaceful protesters in the Gaza Strip.
At least seven Palestinians were killed and 154 injured on Friday by Israeli gas and gunfire while taking part in the Great March of Return along the border between the Gaza Strip and the 1948 occupied Palestinian territories.
Al-Azhar issued a statement calling on the international community to shoulder its legal and moral responsibility and act toward putting an end to the Israeli crimes against the Palestinians.
Al-Azhar confirmed that it fully supports the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle to restore their occupied land and establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have been protesting on a daily basis since 30 March along the border fence to call for lifting the decade-long blockade and allowing refugees to return to their homes.
