Breaking: Syrian Army retakes two areas from ISIS in southeast Syria

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a powerful assault against the Islamic State (ISIS) forces in eastern Al-Sweida, yesterday, targeting several areas controlled by the terrorist group in the Badiya Al-Sham region.

Backed by the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) and the National Defense Forces (NDF), the Syrian Army spent much of Sunday just hammering the Islamic State’s positions in a bid to fracture their lines before making another big push.

This major assault over the weekend would prove important, as the Syrian Arab Army and their allies made a big push in the Badiya Al-Sham region this morning.

According to a military report from Al-Sweida, the Syrian Army and their allies scored a big advance, today, after a fierce battle with the Islamic State terrorists in this region.

The report added that the Syrian Army and their allies were able to retake two important areas from the Islamic State: Bir Al-Aroura and Tal Arar.

The Syrian Army and their allies are now working to clear the Tal Barakat area in a bid to secure this imperative hilltop that was used by the Islamic State to launch several attacks against the government forces.

In addition to securing the large hilltop of Tal Barakat, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies are preparing to make a major push to capture the Islamic State stronghold of Al-Kara’a, which has also been a launching point for the terrorist group in the past.

The capture of Al-Kara’a is part of the second phase of the Syrian Army’s offensive in this vast desert region of eastern Al-Sweida.

Approximately, 500-600 Islamic State terrorists are still believed to be active in this large desert area in east AL-Sweida, with a large number of these militants hiding in the many caves of the Badiya Al-Sham region.
