Video Clip- Ya Waadalah Ya Nasrallah
Hezbollah, whose ideological foundations were laid in Lebanon since the end of the 70’s, entered the stage of establishment after the Iranian Islamic Revolution led by Ayatollah Khomeini in Iran.
The ideological ruptures between some important figures working within the Amal Movement, one of the influential Shiite movements in Lebanon, and the leaders of the Amal Movement led to the birth of Hezbollah.
However, the only factor in the establishment of Hezbollah was not the fact that some important figures in the Amal Movement were affected by the Iranian Revolution.
It is thought that Israel’s invasion of Southern Lebanon in 1982 and the Shiite leaders’ decision to withdraw without responding to Israeli attacks accelerated the establishment of Hezbollah.
In fact, the Amal Movement, which included Christians and Muslims in Lebanon at that time, was following an anti-Palestine Liberation Movement (PLO) policy with the Syrian government, unlike Iran.
Hezbollah, whose exact date is unknown, received military and political support from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, and ideologically linked itself directly to Ayatollah Khomeini.
Hezbollah, which has carried out many attacks in Lebanon since 1982, officially announced its establishment in a statement published in 1985.
In this statement, Hezbollah declared that it was bound by the orders of Ayatollah Khomeini, whom it saw as the Vilayet-i Fakih.
Recognizing Ayatollah Khomeini, the leader of the Iranian Islamic Revolution, as the highest religious authority, Hezbollah regards its general secretary as Khomeini’s deputy in Lebanon.
Hezbollah, which is ideologically loyal to Iran’s leader Khomeini, receives political and military support from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
Hezbollah made its first major action in October 1983.
This action, which made Hezbollah known both in Lebanon and in the region, was held at the headquarters where the US and French soldiers were located, and 300 US-French soldiers lost their lives.
2006 Israel-Hezbollah War (July War)
Despite Israel’s declaration of withdrawal in 2000, it did not withdraw from some areas on the border, which was Hezbollah’s response to calls to “put down arms” from both inside and outside.
Hezbollah launched an attack on Israel in July 2006 to ease the pressure on it. Hezbollah militants crossing the border killed 3 Israeli soldiers and took 2 hostage. After 1 Israeli tank was destroyed and 5 more soldiers were killed during the counter-operation launched by Israel, the events got worse and the conflicts known as the “July War” began.
As a result of Israeli attacks, Lebanon’s infrastructure, including the capital, Beirut, has largely collapsed. While about a thousand Lebanese citizens lost their lives in the conflicts, around 160 Israelis were also killed. While civilians accounted for one-third to two-thirds of Lebanese casualties, 43 Israelis died as a result of Hezbollah missiles.
As a result of the conflicts that lasted for about a month, the fact that Hezbollah had the capacity to hit many Israeli cities greatly break the “myth of invincibility” of Israel, which is widespread in the region.
