“We do not claim that there are no economic problems or disease…but Western media exaggerate,” Ambassador Nicholas Dlamini Kitikiti said in a meeting with Reza Moqadasi, the director of the Mehr News Agency and Tehran Times newspaper.

The diplomat went on to say that European countries including Britain are trying to depict a gloomy picture of Zimbabwe with the aim of finding control over the country’s natural resources.

Dlamini Kitikiti said Zimbabwe was under sanctions for 15 years and the International Monetary Fund did not cooperate with the country and this badly affected the infrastructure.

Sudan has declared a state of emergency along its borders with South Sudan amid escalating border tensions and growing fears of an all-out war between the two neighbors.

According to the local SUNA News Agency, Sudan’s president Omar al-Bashir has issued a resolution declaring the emergency in the border states of South Kordofan, White Nile and Sennar.

The move technically suspends Sudan’s constitution and imposes a trade embargo with the South.

The resolution will also allow the president and anyone with his mandate to establish special courts which handle criminal and “terrorist” cases.

The developments come after Khartoum’s army spokesman, al-Sawarmi Khalid Saad, announced on Sunday that Sudan had captured four foreigners who were investigating the debris from the recent fighting between Sudan and South Sudan in the oil-rich region of Heglig.

The foreigners were identified as a Briton, a Norwegian, a South African, and a South Sudanese.

“It is now confirmed without any doubt that South Sudan used the help of foreigners in their attack on Heglig. These foreigners were doing military work such as spying out the areas… They had military equipment… They have a military background,” the official told reporters after the four were flown to Khartoum for “more investigation.”

Juba’s troops occupied Sudan’s main oil region of Heglig for 10 days. On April 20, Khartoum announced that the Sudanese army had forced Southern Sudanese soldiers out of the area.

Earlier in the day, Sudan expressed opposition to calls for the UN Security Council to become involved in efforts to end weeks of border clashes with South Sudan.

“Sudan confirms that it rejects any efforts to disturb the African Union role and take the situation between Sudan and South Sudan to the UN Security Council,” Sudan Foreign Minister Ali Karti said on Saturday.

The African Union has also asked the two neighbors to end hostilities and engage in peace talks.

Sudan accuses South Sudan, which seceded from the Republic of Sudan in July 2011, of supporting anti-government rebels operating in the Darfur region and the states of Blue Nile and South Kordofan.

South Sudan became independent on July 9, 2011, after decades of conflict with the north. The new oil-rich nation is one of the least developed countries in the world, with one in seven children dying before the age of five.

Ivory Coast Ambassador to Iran Abdullah Cissé’s said here on Tuesday that Iran serves as model of development given its principles and freedom seeking attitude.

In a meeting with the province’s deputy governor general, he added, “We are in dire need of other countries such as Iran to attain development and remove poverty.”

Ivory Coast also believes that Iran forges ties with other countries based on mutual respect and human principles, he noted.

Stating that his country has no intention to use western model for its development, the envoy added that the Europeans still buy the country’s agricultural product such as coffee at a low price.

Cissé’s further noted that his country is interested in developing political and economic ties with Iran.

“We are not the enemy of any country in the world and are in need of forging cooperation with all countries in order to get rid of current economic crisis,” he said.

Referring to ten-year activity of his country’s embassy in Tehran, he also complained about the low level of economic exchanges.

East Azarbaijan’s deputy governor general, Farrokh Masjedifar, for his part, said that the province is interested in forging friendly ties with all countries across the world.

Ivory Coast is a country in West Africa with a population of 19 million.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Monday that faith, wisdom and resistance ofnations would prepare grounds for establishment of peace and administration of justice around the globe.

President Ahmadinejad made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Sudanese special envoy sent to Iran by the country’s president.

Independent, freedom-seeking, faithful and rational nations can resist bullying powers and help restore peace and justice to the world, he said.

The Sudanese envoy, for his part, referred to historical and cultural relations between the two nations and said Tehran and Khartoum can take positive steps to serve the two nations’ interests and help restore peace and security to the region as well as the world.

The enemies have mobilized their facilities to dominate nations, he said, adding that there is no doubt that nations through vigilance, resistance and quest for justice can thwart all plots of the global arrogance.

There are suitable grounds for expansion of mutual relations and cooperation between the two countries.

The Sudanese envoy submitted a written message from Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir to Ahmadinejad and called for promotion of mutual and regional cooperation.

Briefing President Ahmadinejad on current developments in Sudan, he said the Islamic Republic of Iran has backed Sudan’s legal rights under any circumstances.
