At least 10 Israeli soldiers, including those who took part in Tel Aviv’s 50-day war on the Gaza Strip, committed suicide in 2014, fresh reports have revealed.

According to figures compiled by Terrorist Israel’s Haaretz newspaper, the number of the Israeli troops who took their own lives in 2014 showed an increase compared to the previous year when seven soldiers took their own lives.

The daily further said four of the 10 soldiers had participated in the Israeli regime’s bloody military offensive against the blockaded Gaza Strip last summer.

Three of the soldiers who committed suicide after Israel’s war on Gaza were from the Givati Brigade, while another was a reservist called up to emergency duty during the offensive.

The four suicide cases have prompted the Israeli military to check the impact of the Gaza war on the soldiers who took part in it.

“In fact, three soldiers taking their own lives after the operation is significant,” the daily quoted Colonel Keren Ginat, the mental health chief of the Israeli military, as saying.

The overall figures are expected to be officially released by the Israeli military soon, the report added.

The Israeli military unleashed aerial attacks on Gaza in early July and later expanded its military campaign with a ground invasion into the Palestinian strip. Over 2,130 Palestinians, including around 570 children, lost their lives and some 11,000 were injured in the raids.

Many in Israel believe that the regime has failed to score a clear victory in the offensive, which took a heavy toll on Israel.
