An aircraft belonging to India’s Border Security Force (BSF) has crashed on take-off on the outskirts of the capital, New Delhi, killing all the 10 people aboard.

The Super King went down after hitting a wall in Dwarka district near the New Delhi airport on Tuesday.

“It’s a matter of grave concern that the plane crashed soon after take-off. I am extremely sad to say that all 10 people including the pilot have died,” Mahesh Sharma, the junior civil aviation minister.

Most of those on board were technicians, who were on the way to Ranchi in the eastern state of Jharkhand to repair a helicopter.

Aviation authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of incident.

In May 2011, 10 people died after a small medical ambulance aircraft crashed in Faridabad town east of New Delhi.

At least 160 people were also killed after a plane crashed in the Indian southern city of Mangalore in May 2010.
