1000s join funeral for Palestinian killed by Israel

373772_West-Bank-funeralThousands of Palestinian mourners have attended a mass funeral for a young protester killed by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank.

The funeral of 20-year-old Oday Jaber was held in the occupied West Bank village of Karbatha on Saturday evening.

The Palestinians chanted anti-Israeli slogans and called on the international community to break its silence on Israel’s acts of violence against Gazans.

Jaber was killed by Israeli security forces on Friday during an anti-Israeli protest southwest of Ramallah. Jaber’s death has raised to 11 the number of those killed in the troubled region since last weekend. Hundreds of Palestinians have been injured during the clashes.

Angry Palestinian demonstrators in the West Bank have held numerous protests against Israel since the onslaught against Gaza began nearly four weeks ago. The West Bank Palestinians said they were out in the streets to show solidarity with their brothers and sisters who are being killed in Gaza.

Israeli warplanes have been carrying out incessant airstrikes against the blockaded Gaza Strip since July 8. Thousands of Israeli soldiers also launched a ground invasion into the densely-populated territory on July 17.

Nearly 1,700 Palestinians have been killed and over 9,000 injured following 26 days of Israeli aerial and ground assaults on the Gaza Strip.

Also on Saturday, thousands of demonstrators joined massive rallies in various parts of the world to show solidarity with Palestinians in the blockaded Gaza Strip.

Protesters denounced the deadly Israeli onslaught against Palestinians, demanding an end to Israel’s seven-year crippling blockade on Gaza. The protesters also called for boycotting Israeli goods.X X
